Welcome to part 2 in my series on saving money in relation to amusement parks. In our first post I discussed Disneyland’s Deal for So Cal residents and ways to save on your visit. Today we will focus more on where to look for discount tickets to save on admission to the parks in your area!
1) Check your local eateries. Many eateries from Subway to Mimi’s and everything in between you can find great discounts for admission to zoo’s, Six Flag Parks and more! Sometimes the deal is on a cup — we scored FREE Child Hopper Tickets to Legoland and their new aquarium at Wendy’s a few weeks ago, on the kids meal bags or just a coupon you have to ask for.
2) Keep your eyes peeled in the grocery store. Albertson’s and Stater Bros both have great savings offers for Raging Waters, and Six Flags in our area. I have also seen deals for Mid Evil Times and Universal Studios in other grocery locations.
3) Check your local papers for deals. Our local paper has an entertainment section on Friday’s that has coupons for a few smaller local amusement parks and also our local fair!
4) Check the parks website. Many times the parks offer a great discount just for buying your tickets to the park in advance online.
5) Invest in an Entertainment Book. Right now you can pick up a book for 2009 FREE when you reserve your 2010 copy! I have been able to use coupons to Sea World and the Los Angeles Zoo in the past and the savings from the coupons always pay for the cost of the book in no time.
6) Check with your employer for group discount offers. My former employer always contracted with a company to offer us discount tickets to everything from movies to amusement parks and while it was not always the best deal — many times it was.
7) Follow the amusement park on twitter. Last week Six Flags was offering 2 tickets for $20 online thru twitter. The site crashed and they did not reopen the deal as far as I know but it was a great savings for the people who were able to grab them. You never know what savings you will find on twitter!
Doing your research ahead of time is always the best way to save. Sometimes using a combination of different offers will get you the lowest out of pocket price. Especially if your family is an odd number of people.
