To Coupon or Not? – If You Know Me You Already Know The Answer But Read Anyway

A lot of people will tell me they are enamored with my couponing abilities and some say they wish it would work for them. When I inquire as to why they don’t think they can summon upon their own inner coupon diva I almost immediately hear 2 reasons. No time, and besides, the stuff they use doesn’t put out coupons anyway and they just don’t eat Hamburger Helper or the likes. So today I will attempt to share a little information to help some of you hop off that fence you are sitting on.

There is just no time. I can truly relate to this statement. I am a full time working mom to 4 boys traveling 50 miles from home to work 5 days a week in LA area traffic. Since I tackle the main shopping every other week I am often playing catch up on coupon clipping right before the big shopping weekend happens. Money saving is a priority to me though, so I work it in. In a conference room on my breaks at work, in waiting rooms of doctor or dental offices and even on the commuter bus are places I squeeze some clippin in! I am sure there are people who raise an eyebrow at me, but other people will ask me about my coupon binder and how I find all my coupons and I love the opportunity to share what I have learned with them as I cut away. If you truly want to save money, the time can be found. As for clamoring over ads to match those coupons with sales, for most any store the work is already done for you! I am a regular visitor to the Grocery Gathering at BeCentsable and I hope to be able to contribute a new Stater Bros thread there soon!

As for the products you use not having coupons available. That could not be farther from true. Yes, there are a lot of coupons out there for heavily processed foods, but most manufactures and even produce companies put out coupons. Just this week I used coupons for organic milk, organic frozen veggies and Cuties (Clementine’s)! If you prefer organic or specialty items you might have to go a little more out of your way to find those coupons, like on the manufacture’s website as opposed to just grabbing your Sunday paper, but it is well worth it. I promise. Websites like A Full Cup have a running database of a lot of the coupons to be had and where you can get them. The information is literally at your fingertips. I am planning a “getting started” series for January, New Year…New Shopping Habits and I hope you will join me!  Want specific information in this series….let me know in the comments!!

Tell me about your coupon binder.

Thanks Diana! I use a padded 3 ring binder to organize my coupons. I divided the sections with tab dividers and I use baseball card pages to hold the coupons. It takes a little extra time to organize the coupons but it makes finding them very easy which I love! I will post a picture when I get home. Let me know if you have any other questions.
